Dwelling Place
“However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.” Romans 8:9 NASB
Where’s your favorite place to live? Some choose the beach, others the mountains, and still others like a high-rise apartment in the middle of a bustling city.
I prefer a quiet suburb, close to the city and its attractions, but far enough away to escape the chaos. Sirens are rare where we live. So are traffic jams. I love our neighborhood and our home.
There’s nothing quite like finding that perfect house to live in. Whether you’re there right now, or working toward it, you know all the features that make you say, “This is the one!”
When I consider the Holy Spirit’s chosen place to dwell—in those who belong to Christ—I marvel at what a privilege that is. Out of all the creatures on the earth, He picked us. We’re prone to wander, stumble often, and lose perspective easily (or is that just me?), but like a family moving into a vacant house, He gives us life. Amazing!
If that isn’t proof that He delights in us, I don’t know what is.

Wonderful post, Lyneta. As far as illustrations of God’s delights in us, I love the imagery we are shown in Zephaniah 3:17. God delights in us so much that He rejoices and sings over us. Some translations hint that he loves us so much that He spins around over us with a powerful and quiet love. I’m not sure what that looks like exactly, but it amazes me that WE, his children, arouse that kind of delight from an all-powerful, mighty and sovereign God. 🙂 How loved we are!
That’s a great illustration, Maresa! I love your description of Zephaniah’s word picture. It makes me even more grateful for God’s love. Thanks for dropping by and for your kind words.
